Diana – Princess of Wales born on 7/1/1961, was a delicate whisper in the wind, with no real direction, who blossomed into a strong, independent, confident, compassionate, loving and fearless woman who projected wit and wisdom. Prince Charles married Diana on 7/29/1981, who was seen as a real-life heroine of a fairy-tale. Diana was the most admired member of the royal family. Diana – Princess of Wales was a devoted mother to Prince William born on 6/21/1982 and Prince Harry born on 9/15/1984. The fairy-tale wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles did not lead to a happy ever-after marriage which ended with the divorce being finalized in 1996.
Diana’s life was cut short on 8/31/1997, in a horrific car accident, while being chased by members of the paparazzi! The news of Diana’s sudden and senseless death shocked the world! My husband Dick and I were glued to the television for hours praying and waiting for news that Diana was alive! Thousands turned out to pay tribute to Princess Diana – The People’s Princess with over 32.1 million people watching the dignified funeral procession on their television. Thousands of friends, fans and noted celebrities were in attendance at the funeral which was held at Westminster Abby.
A Princess Diana Memorial Fund, established after her death, provides grants to numerous organizations and supports initiatives to provide care to sick people in Africa, help refugees and STOP the use of land mines! Diana – Princess of Wales had used her International Celebrity Status to HELP raise awareness to these critical issues!
I am fortunate to own two of Diana’s popular souvenirs, A Limited Edition of her elegant purple/amethyst floral vase and one of Diana’s baby beanies. I would love to own Diana’s original purple soft bear with the green/white rose tag. One of Diana’s favorite quotes – “I don’t go by the rulebook, I lead from the heart not the head.” The beloved Diana – Princess of Wales touched the hearts and lives of millions of people throughout the world!
